Rory McIlroy Hole-In-One!

Who doesn’t love an ace? Well, when it’s Rory McIlroy, who knocks it in, I can promise you there’s gonna be a lot of people who don’t. Love him or hate him. Rory got his first PGA hole-in-one at the Travelers today…

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again I am not a Rory lover and I’m not a Rory hater. I’m taking a firm stance in the middle, like a true internet hero. Finishing T2 at the U.S.Open is a helluva feat, I don’t care who you are but… he also missed a lot of somewhat makeable birdie putts on Sunday. It’s not unreasonable at this point to say Rory is having a lot of difficulty closing out the big ones.

I’m just surprise this is Rory‘s first ace on tour. He’s been so good for so long I would’ve imagined this would’ve number three or four for him but I guess not. He wasn’t very sentimental about it…

The first thing the Rory haters are going say is:

“Couldn’t do that on Sunday at the US Open..”

“Still didn’t have a good day…”

”Typical Rory doing big things on Thursday’s…”

I’m not saying those things, that’s just the internet. Not me. I’m happy for ya Rory. He might not care about keeping the ball but you know that’s gotta put a little pep in Rory’s step.

He didn’t play well today but maybe this will give him something to build on tomorrow. The US Open hangover has got to be lingering a bit for Rory. In a couple weeks I’m sure he’ll feel good about his US Open performance coming in solo second. For now that wound is still too fresh and those missed birdies on Sunday are gonna hang heavy. For now though he’s got an ace up his sleeve, some major confidence, and a bit of mojo running. Watch out Rory’s coming…
