Who Wants To Hit A Stinger? Everyone

So you want to Hit A Stinger? Don’t you know the game of golf is complex enough? Why would you try to over complicate this sport with trying to pull out some ridiculous low-flying, screamer of a shot?

Because it’s cool as hell…

What a missile here by Xander. Absolutely hypnotizing. When a stinger is perfected it’s a thing of beauty. Unfortunately a stinger is a shot I can’t hit no matter what I do, it’s not in my bag of tricks. Anytime I’m under tree coverage I’m punching out knowing I can’t keep my ball flight low if I put any real strength behind my swing. It would be super helpful but more importantly, super cool to be able to hit a stinger. I’m just not cool.

Did that help you? No offense to Tiger but that did not help me. Can you keep your hands loose, move your hips fast, stop your hands just after contact, make a full swing, but not follow thru? Do I want to hit a stinger? Yes of course but I’d rather post a good score. Golf is hard enough and keeping the ball straight is the only shot shape I’m concerned with these days. So when it comes to stingers I’m purely a spectator…


Maybe Tiger didn’t invent the stinger but he perfected it. Aside from tree shots the best time to be able to bust out a stinger is during tough wind conditions. If you’re playing a lot of links courses over in Scotland a stinger is must. Outside of a the long drive or a crazy flop shot it might be the coolest shot in golf.

Watching realzaccradford on Instagram is memorizing. Dude just flushes clean, crisp-contact, and that ball is screaming. Do I want to hit a stinger? Yes but I don’t have the time, athletic ability, or patience to try and add it to my game. I’m just going to keep playing boring golf and when I’m in tree trouble I’ll chunk out. If it’s 30mph winds I’ll just layup until the wind is with me. Boring yes but I know my limitations at this age. Maybe the GOAT’s lesson clicked with you and you’ll be able to go out there and hit some screamin mimis.
